MOOG Music Software End of Year Sale 2024! Until December 31The secret to creative sound design
Not limited to the input type, Cluster Flux is designed for a variety of input sources from guitar, vocals, drums, synthesizers and more. The unbiased input type presents a plethora of different effects and sounds you can achieve using the combination of the Delay and LFO modules. The perfect studio tool for injecting modern, sterile productions with classic analog movement, you can expect to find classic flanging, chorus and vibrato to the more experimental ramped pitch modulation and randomized flanging.
Unlock the classic "jet engine" flanger sound with up and down modulation of the input signal. Push the Feedback into the negative, increase the Rate, decrease the Rate Amount and pull the time to the left for a gentle, swooshing wave for your electric guitar lead lines or synthesizer pads. A simple few changes and you can take Cluster Flux from Flanging to Chorus in seconds. Blend the Mix amount to 50-50 to retain some of the dry signal in and push the Feedback to the positive values for a metallic, brittle edge.
Outside of the norm, Cluster Flux could be the creative spark you need to discover new sounds for your music. Unlock Random Flanging effects by creating a rhythmic, random LFO step modulation. Set the LFO waveform to Random, increase the rate and pull the Feedback into the negative for a hollow, accidental sound.
Dedicated delay parameters
This powerful plug-in features a TIME control that sets the length of delay from the BBD delay line according to the Range switch setting. In Flange Mode, with the AMOUNT set to 0, the Delay Time varies from 0.5 msec to 10 miliseconds, while in Chorus mode, this range extends from 5 to 50 miliseconds.
The RANGE switch offers two distinct delay time ranges for the TIME control. Flange mode selects shorter delay times, while Chorus mode provides slightly longer delay times, giving you the flexibility to create your desired sound. The FEEDBACK control adjusts the amount of delay output fed back into the delay input, allowing you to fine-tune the intensity of the comb filter's frequency response peaks in Flange Mode. The control provides both positive and negative feedback options, with zero feedback at the mid-position.
Dedicated LFO
The MoogerFooger Software MF-108S Cluster Flux offers a versatile LFO section that allows users to create unique modulation effects with ease. By using the WAVEFORM control, you can select from six different LFO waveforms, including Sine, Triangle, Square, Sawtooth, Ramp, and Random Stepped waveforms, to modulate the Delay Time. When the LFO Amount is set to zero, no modulation will be audible, giving you precise control over the effect. The RATE control enables you to adjust the frequency of the modulation, ranging from 0.05 Hz to approximately 50 Hz, while the LFO Rate LED provides a visual indication of both the rate and waveform of your current LFO settings. Lastly, the AMOUNT control determines the overall intensity of the delay time modulation by the LFO, making it easy to fine-tune your sound.
Enhance your sound design with modulation inputs
Replicated in the digital world, MF-108S Cluster Flux features the same CV connectivity found on the hardware counterpart. Using a MIDI controller, expression pedal or other CV sources from other MoogerFooger plug-ins, you can control parameters in classic modular synth style. With CV controls for Delay Time, Feedback, LFO Rate, LFO Amount and Mix, the strength of the modulation can be controlled via the bipolar knob, with positive and negative values. The perfect way to add evolving, dynamic modulation to your sound, you can trigger parameter adjustments with external sources to move with your music!
Enhance your stereo image
The Type setting on the MoogerFooger Software MF-108S Cluster Flux plays a crucial role in determining the delay feedback handling between the left and right stereo channels. Choose Echo for a standard stereo delay where the left and right channels are separate and have identical delay times. Alternatively, select Ping-Pong to create a captivating effect where the delayed signal appears to bounce back and forth between the left and right channels.
Find the perfect tone
The Tone setting on the MF-108S Cluster Flux influences the EQ, filtering, and grittiness of the delayed audio signal. The original MF-108 hardware utilized analog Bucket Brigade Devices (BBDs) driven by an analog clock with a frequency low enough to be within the audible range (around 1.7 to 3 kHz). To prevent the clock signal from bleeding through, heavy filtering was applied to the delayed audio, giving the original MF-108 its characteristic tone. The MF-108S replicates this tone with the Legacy setting, while the Modern setting offers a bright, crisp, full-bandwidth delay sound that retains all the other organic and elastic qualities of an analog effect.
Shift phase
The original MF-108M Cluster Flux's right output featured a mix of dry signal and phase-inverted wet signal from the BBDs' output, resulting in a pleasant stereo effect when panned hard left and right. With the MF-108S plugin, you can select which signal to phase invert for various stereo effects: Right Wet, Right Dry, Left Wet, or Left Dry. Selecting Both Wet will phase invert both the left and right wet signals, while All In Phase will not phase invert any of the signals.
LFO Polarity Setting
The LFO Polarity setting on the MF-108S Cluster Flux determines whether the LFO is centered around zero or if zero is the lowest point and the LFO is only positive. Choosing Bipolar causes the LFO to bend the delay time both slower and faster relative to the delay time with no LFO applied. Selecting Unipolar causes the LFO to bend the time only faster, ensuring that the delay time when the LFO is at its lowest point in its cycle is the same as the unmodulated delay time (with no LFO applied).
